Andrea Casciu
The Work: “Metamorphosi” – 2024 – Water-based paints
Drawing inspiration from the moralistic Bestiaries of the Middle Ages, Andrea Casciu envisions an animalistic creature dedicated to the famous Gallo Nero (Black Rooster) of the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico. This invention is conceived in the artist’s signature style, reminiscent of woodcut engravings of the past. The overall effect is a playful yet unsettling work, with heads of old men and bird heads emerging from the rooster’s body. It is an indecipherable allegory.
